Therapy for Adults
Untangling the mental load, one session at a time.

Adulthood brings a lot to the table—career demands, relationship stress, family responsibilities, internal pressure to “do it all.” Even when things look fine from the outside, it’s common to feel overwhelmed, anxious, irritable, or like you’re running on fumes.

Maybe you’re constantly second-guessing yourself, wondering if you’re falling short or missing something important. Maybe you feel disconnected from who you want to be, unsure how to get back to yourself—or even what that version of you looks like anymore.

That’s where therapy can help.

I work with adults navigating a wide range of challenges, from anxiety and burnout to parenting stress, relationship dynamics, and big life transitions. For moms in particular, I bring over 20 years of experience in child and teen therapy, which allows me to offer unique insight and support for family communication and connection. But this isn’t just about parenting—our work is also about you as a whole person.

Using EMDR in Adult Therapy
One powerful tool I often use is EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). While it’s well-known for treating trauma, EMDR is also highly effective for issues like:
-
Anxiety that spins you out mentally or physically
-
Overanalyzing conversations, decisions, or memories
-
Persistent guilt, shame, or emotional baggage
-
“Stuck” thoughts or moments that won’t leave you alone
-
A constant feeling of internal tension or self-criticism
If your mind feels like an overstuffed closet that won’t close, EMDR can help clear space. Clients often say they feel lighter, calmer, and less hijacked by old experiences or mental loops after doing this work.
Common areas we might focus on in therapy:
-
Managing anxiety, stress, and racing thoughts
-
Working through depression, burnout, or emotional numbness
-
Balancing work, relationships, parenting, and your own needs
-
Navigating family systems and parenting challenges
-
Building confidence and strengthening self-trust
-
Communicating more clearly and setting healthy boundaries
-
Learning to say no (without all the guilt)
-
Processing grief, transition, or feeling stuck in life
Therapy gives you a place to put down what you’ve been carrying, reflect on what actually matters to you, and develop tools that help you move through life with more clarity and calm. Whether we meet in-person in Poulsbo or connect online across Washington State, I’m here to help you feel more grounded, more capable, and more yourself.
